Michigan Works! Job Fair Draws More Than 80, Connects Employers and Job Seekers

More than 80 people attended the Job Fair at Traverse City Michigan Works! on February 2nd. The event gained notoriety because employer representatives were on hand to conduct interviews for available professional jobs in manufacturing, food production, and natural resources. Most of these positions required a college degree with salaries ranging from $30,000-$75,000 per year.

"It was a great event and I know that the eighty-plus job seekers that attended took away something important--whether it was a job interview, a résumé critique, tools on using the Talent Bank, an informational interview, the opportunity to network, or a better understanding of and motivation to utilize employment services at Michigan Works," said Jan Warren, Northwest Michigan Works! program director.

The Networks Northwest team did a great job to help the City of Charlevoix and Charlevoix Township collaborate in addressing housing challenges in our community. They facilitated dialogue with Planning Commissioners, community stakeholders, and municipal officials to develop a plan for cohesive zoning in areas of growth for our two governments. Further, they were able to pinpoint the challenges in each unit and propose changes that would be beneficial all around. Together, we believe we'll be better prepared for housing developments and job growth in our region. We look forward to working with them on future projects!
