Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Students Participate in Leadership Day
October 17, 2023
Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) students from northern Lower Michigan and the eastern U.P. worked on leadership and team-building skills at the JMG Leadership Day October 10 at Camp Daggett near Petoskey. The day’s activities included a ropes course, rock wall, and zip line. A total of 60 students participated in the event, including 42 students from JMG programs coordinated by Northwest Michigan Works! at Cadillac Public Schools, Char-Em ISD, North Ed Career Tech Center, and Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center.
“I had been awaiting Leadership Day ever since I went the year before,” said Riley Brown from North Ed Career Tech Center. “Both times, it has been a wonderfully eye-opening and motivating experience for both me and others. In each of my years attending this event, I have met people I never would have anticipated to be like me, let alone become friends with and remain in touch with.”
“Leadership Day was like your first day at a new school,” said Dalton Kauska from Central Lake High School. “You didn't know what to expect but you quickly learned the ropes.”
“Seeing other students participate in the climbing activities helped push me out of my comfort zone and participate,” said Alex Frosty from Cadillac Innovation High School. “I liked that everyone was included and had a task in the puzzle rooms.”
