Beaver Island Students Gain Work Experience Through Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Program
June 27, 2023
Beaver Island Community School students in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program gained valuable work experience thanks to a partnership between the Beaver Island Historical Society and Northwest Michigan Works! The four students each spent two weeks in a paid work experience program working for the Historical Society. The program gave the students the opportunity to learn skills in customer service, marketing, article writing, archiving, and construction. The students participating in the work experience program were sophomore Sophie McDonough, junior Ava Palmer, and Ethan Kubesh and Jacob Bontrager, both seniors.
Northwest Michigan Works! is proud to partner with Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) in serving the region’s youth. Our Township greatly benefits from Network Northwest's experience, depth of knowledge and understanding. Because they work with so many diverse communities in our ten-county region they understand the local land-use issues and are already working on solutions by the time we realize we need some help.
